Abstract

The SWISSMODICS Clean Sky 2 project develops a new ultra-thin sensor sensitive to visible, near-infrared and X-ray photons for in-line inspection, that can be incorporated in the composite structure of an aircraft at places where delamination risks to occur to facilitate diagnostic. Delamination, occurs due to shocks or impacts on the composite structures, which can lead to unscheduled inspections, requiring the aircraft to be immobilized. Addressing this issue, SWISSMODICS aims to minimize the inconvenience caused to both airlines and passengers, while reducing inspection time for composite delamination.
