Abstract
The future of bioprocess R&D will increasingly depend on platforms that combine high-throughput experimentation with real-time monitoring and control. This report outlines a vision for integrating two complementary technologies: fluidic smart lids for perfusion in deep well plates and miniaturized multiparameter sensors for inline process analytical technology (PAT). While each system has demonstrated strong individual capabilities such as automated, long-term medium exchange, and real-time sensing of critical parameters, respectively, their full integration remains the ultimate objective. Achieving this synergy would enable standardized, process analytical technology-driven workflows at micro-scale, bridging the gap between early-stage screening and industrial bioreactors.
