Abstract
Monitoring physiological signals at distant body points requires cables which are one of the main showstoppers for practical wearable monitoring systems. To solve the issue, CSEM developed standalone sensors that replace all cables with a vest made of conductive fabrics resulting in an unprecedented level of integration—in particular for systems involving many sensed points. However, each standalone sensor has its own crystal and consequently, signals are not acquired in synchronism. In order to cope with this weak point, CSEM initiated new developments that allow low-power standalone sensors to work in concert as if they share the same time frame.
