Abstract
Industrial quality control increasingly requires reliable, high-speed visual inspection of small mechanical components from multiple viewpoints under strict cycle-time constraints. To address this challenge, CSEM has developed a compact mirror-based optical system that captures several synchronized perspectives of millimeter-scale parts on a single image sensor. The system is designed for high-speed, inline inspection and is already successfully deployed in industrial environments. It represents a versatile tool for surface inspection and industrial quality control, leveraging telecentric optics and flexible illumination to support a wide range of applications. Building on this hardware platform, the project further investigates the feasibility of recovering three-dimensional (3D) shape information by combining the acquired inspection data with modern visual segmentation and learning-based shape inference methods.
