Abstract
Remanufacturing is a cornerstone of the circular economy, yet it remains difficult to automate due to high variability in parts, processes, and quality requirements. The R3-Mydas project addresses these challenges by integrating cognitive robotics and learning-driven quality control into industrial remanufacturing workflows. This article presents two flagship developments: an autonomous robotic system for electric vehicle (EV) battery disassembly, and a data-driven process optimization framework for laser cladding in crankshaft remanufacturing. Together, these automation developments demonstrate how perception reasoning and execution can be combined to increase safety, productivity, and quality in remanufacturing operations.
