Abstract
The European project NewLife aims at a better monitoring of vital parameters of premature newborns and pregnant women by integrating a series of sensors into clothes or textiles. At CSEM, this includes the development of specific analytical devices, methods and algorithms for the interrogation of a series of sensors working in parallel, as well as the improvement of specific components, such as dry electrodes that are needed for long-term monitoring of these parameters. These sensors record a wide range of parameters for better health diagnostics, with a focus on photoplethysmography (PPG) and electrocardiogram (ECG), for blood pressure, oxygenation saturation and heart rhythm measurement. In addition, CSEM develops novel alternative techniques for oxygen monitoring based on transcutaneous oxygen measurement on the skin.
